Island Peak is a perfect first 6000m objective - combining a classic Khumbu trek, glacier travel, and an exciting summit ridge. It's ideal if you want real climbing experience without committing to a long expedition.

- Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
- Day 2: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding
- Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
- Day 4: Acclimatisation day in Namche
- Day 5: Namche to Tengboche
- Day 6: Tengboche to Dingboche
- Day 7: Acclimatisation at Dingboche
- Day 8: Dingboche to Lobuche
- Day 9: Lobuche to Gorakshep, visit EBC
- Day 10: Gorakshep to Kala Patthar, descend to Dingboche
- Day 11: Dingboche to Chhukung
- Day 12: Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp
- Day 13: Summit Island Peak (6,189m), return to base camp
- Day 14: Reserve day (weather)
- Day 15: Descend to Namche
- Day 16: Namche to Lukla, fly to Kathmandu
Day 1–4: Kathmandu to Namche and acclimatisation
Arrival, briefing, fly to Lukla and trek via Phakding to Namche Bazaar. Acclimatisation day with optional walk to Syangboche for mountain views.
Day 5–7: Tengboche, Dingboche, rest day
Trek to Tengboche (monastery) and Dingboche. Rest and acclimatisation at Dingboche with optional hike to Nangkartshang or Chhukung Valley.
Day 8–10: Lobuche, Gorakshep, Kala Patthar
Continue to Lobuche and Gorakshep. Optional visit to Everest Base Camp. Early ascent of Kala Patthar for sunrise views, then descend to Dingboche.
Day 11–13: Chhukung, Island Peak Base Camp, summit
Trek to Chhukung and Island Peak Base Camp. Pre-dawn start for summit push: glacier travel, fixed ropes on the headwall, and the classic summit ridge. Return to base camp the same day.
Day 14–16: Reserve, descent, Lukla, Kathmandu
Reserve day for weather. Descend to Namche and Lukla, then fly back to Kathmandu.
Note: Itinerary may be subject to change depending on conditions and group fitness.
Climbing gear
- Harness, crampons, ice axe, helmet; climbing boots (B2/B3); ascender/jumar; prusik loops; 2× locking carabiners
Clothing
- Base layers, fleece, down jacket, waterproof shell, trekking and climbing pants, warm hat, gloves (liner + warm), gaiters, wool socks
Other
- Headlamp, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid, water bottles, trekking poles, sleeping bag (-15°C), daypack (30–40L), duffel for porters
